Before you ask me or any other woman when she’s going to have a baby…DON’T.

Updated: Apr 6

Don't Ask About Pregnancy

Last week someone actually gave me an unused pregnancy test they no longer needed as I was ‘more likely to need it than them’! This is not ok.

We have now been married for 5 years and I am regularly asked by friends, family or acquaintances ‘Will we hear the patter of tiny feet soon?’ Or ‘I’m surprised you haven’t started a family yet, is everything ok?’

Whilst you may mean well, I don’t appreciate the pressure to rush through these milestones in my life. The fact that I’m in my 30s and don’t have children is ok, in fact, it’s pretty great.

Not only this, when you ask these questions you have no idea what is going on with that couple or individual, so these questions may bring up pain or emotions. If a couple is dealing with fertility, finance, relationship or health issues your questioning isn’t going to help.

The bottom line is before you ask me or any other woman when she’s going to have a baby…DON’T.

❌ JUST DON’T ❌

Keep your thoughts on our life choices to yourself as we didn’t ask you either.

Becoming a mother does not define me or any other woman, we are enough on our own and that will never change.

Please remember this and think twice before you ask me or anyone else if I have any favourite baby names.
